The VI International Symposium on Tomato Diseases will be held at National Chung Hsing University (NCHU) in Taichung, Taiwan. NCHU started as an agricultural college, but has grown to be one of the island’s largest institutes of higher education and a leading science university in Taiwan. The Plant Pathology Department is large (200 undergraduate students and 55 graduate students) and well-equipped; along with training, it carries out advanced research in areas such as molecular plant pathology and virology, etiology and taxonomy, microbial and plant biotechnology, and integrated disease management.

The university is located in southeast Taichung, about 7 km (16 minutes) from the Taichung High Speed Railway Station.

Getting to the Symposium Venue

Most attendees will fly into Taipei Taoyuan International Airport.

1. At the airport, get on the Taoyuan Airport MRT shuttle train at Terminal 1 Station (A12) or Terminal 2 Station (A11) for the 15-minute ride to the Taoyuan High-Speed Rail (HSR) Station (A18). Cost for the shuttle train: NTD 35 (USD 1.15).
2. At Taoyuan HSR Station, purchase an HSR ticket to Taichung. The ride is about 45 minutes long and costs approximately NTD 550 – 600 (USD 17.00 – 20.00).
3. From the Taichung HSR station, it is a 15-minute taxi ride to National Chung Hsing University, the symposium venue. Cost: approximately NTD 250 – 300 (USD 8.00 – 10.00).

The bus ride from Taoyuan International Airport to Taichung (HSR Station or Choma Station) takes about 2 hours and costs about NTD 280 (USD 8.25).
